Pilipas knew Fr. Bosco, however, only allowed himself to be conquered by him at the age of 21, when he accepted the invitation to become a Salesian priest.
Ordained to the priesthood in 1882, he was entrusted with the education of his brothers aspiring to the priesthood. After Fr. After Bosco's death, from 1889, twelve years spread his activities in Spain and Portugal. 1901 The chief rector, Fr. Rua appointed him Vicar General and Treasurer. The busy work did not prevent him from becoming a wonderful spiritual leader in the service of the priest. He gave a new impetus to the Salesian family, enriching it with a wonderful institution of consecrated lay women - Fr. Bosco volunteers.
In 1922, he was elected as the Chief Rector, and devoted himself especially to the education of the Salesians and devotion to the servant of God, Fr. Bosco (who was beatified in 1929) to spread, emphasizing the spiritual life, unity with God, the mission of the youth and unlimited trust in Mary Help of Christians. How brilliant Fr. Heir to Bosco, he knew how to read the "signs of the times" and bravely adapt to them.
Died in Turin. John Paul II was beatified in 1990.
"Father Bosco perfectly united his outwardly open, extensive and responsible activity with an inner spirituality, which begins with the awareness of God's presence and which gradually became actual, constant and alive, becoming a perfect union with God. In this way, he perfectly realized in himself a working contemplation, an ecstasy of activity in which he perished until his last breath for the salvation of souls. The light of Father Bosco and balance gave him clear, precise insights even into the most difficult matters, for he never ceased to be deeply immersed in God's presence and united with His love.” (Fr.
