Pal. Magdalena Morano

Born in Italy near Turin, Magdalena has been engaged in pedagogical practice among the children of her town since childhood. After she got her teacher's diploma, it became the guiding line of her life. Having accumulated didactic and catechetical experience, strengthened by strong faith, at the age of 30 she was able to realize her dream - to dedicate herself to the Lord. In 1879, she becomes a sister of the Institute of the Daughters of Christian Help of Mary and asks for the grace of the Most High "to grant so many years of life until she reaches holiness." in 1881 was sent to Sicily and there she began a fruitful educational activity among the local population, especially girls. In order to proclaim the name of the Lord, she opened schools, oratories, boarding schools and training centers in all corners of the island. Appointed as a provincial elder, she committed herself to the formation of many vocations. She attracted people with her dedication and community spirit. The apostolate of Magdalena Moran was encouraged and appreciated by the bishops who entrusted the catechesis of children to her evangelical determination.

Sister Morano died of cancer in 1908. on March 26, having lived an obedient life to Malone, never preventing her from acting selfishly. She understood well that Fr. Bosco's Preventive System is not only a pedagogical method, but a spirituality that develops and directs the good qualities of people to the service of the Lord and the brothers.

in 1994 November 5 In Catania, the same city where she died, sister. M. Moran John Paul II was declared blessed.

Let Sister Magdalena Morano be your example, who, driven by a deep desire for love and holiness, gave her years with calmness and courage to education. Her commitments supported by the teachings and examples of Saint John Bosco and Sister Maria D. Mazzarello, she used to say: "Do you see how immeasurable the sea is? God's goodness is even greater!" (John Paul II, from the beatification speech)
