St. Owner Savio

Dominikas Savio was born in 1842. near Turin. Since childhood, he was characterized by deep piety and strong character.

At the age of 12, he became a pupil of Don Bosco at the Turin Oratory. He received his First Communion at the age of seven, which was unusually early for that time.

Dominikas was an exemplary student in the oratory. He founded the "Friendship of the Innocents", a group of young people who helped other students, especially the new and lonely.

His motto in life was: "I would rather die than sin." Although this seems harsh, in Dominic's life it was expressed through a joyful, friendly and active practice of faith.

Unfortunately, poor health undermined this young man. The owner died in 1857. at just 14 years old. Don Bosco was at his deathbed.

Canonized in 1954 Pope Pius XII. Is the youngest non-martyr canonized in the Catholic Church. His feast is celebrated on May 6.

This priest Bosco's disciple achieved holiness permeated with joy and nourished by frequent confession, the Blessed Sacrament and devotion to Mary. From a young age, he longed for spiritual perfection. When did Fr. Bosco and became his disciple, his desire for holiness reached its peak. Dominiks is one of the most beautiful priests. The fruits of Bosco's preventive system, a wonderful example of chastity and Christian love among friends. Although he was quite young, Fr. Bosque with his diligent performance of duties, joy and desire to be friends with Jesus. Died of broken lung disease. Fr. Bosco immediately wrote his biography for other young people. He was declared a saint in 1954.

The news about the fifteen-year-old saint is very useful for all Christian educators, especially those who continue Fr. Bosco's charisma. By encouraging the youth entrusted to them to follow the example of this saint and rely on his intercession, such educators will help young people to become authentic and courageous witnesses of Christ among their peers.

1854 on December 8, when the dogma of the Immaculate Conception of Mary, to whom Dominika Savio was especially devout, was announced, after Holy Mass, advised by his confessor, Dominika retired to pray at the altar of Mary, renewed his First Communion vows and then repeated these words many times: "Mary, I give you my heart; make it so that it belongs only to you. Jesus and Mary, always be my friends. Be have mercy and let me die rather than the misfortune of sinning."

"When Dominic first visited the house of the oratory, he came to my room to submit to my will. His eyes fell upon the inscribed Latin phrase which St. Francis Sales often repeated: Da mihi animas, cetera tolle. He read it carefully, and I, desiring him to understand those words, translated: 'Lord, give me souls, take the rest.' He thought for a moment and then said, "I understand: this is not a trade for money, this is a trade for souls. I understand. I hope my soul will be part of this trade with God."
