Born in Italy, in a poor farming family. At the age of 16, he emigrated with his relatives to Argentina in search of happiness. In Bahia Blanca, the young Artemis met the Salesians. When he was 19, he said goodbye to his family and entered the Salesian novitiate. After becoming a cleric, he was invited to nurse a priest who was suffering from dry mouth, and became infected himself. He was sent to the city of Viedma to strengthen his health. Under loving care, Artemis not only recovered, but also discovered his mission - to be a nurse for the sick. So he did not continue his theological studies and, staying with the Salesian brother, he began his mission among the poor sick of the city. After becoming the director of the hospital, he traveled many kilometers by bicycle over the years, delivering medicine to the sick, to comfort those who had lost hope, or to seek support for his hospital. Special attention was paid to free care for the poor. Everyone knew "doctor" Artemis and highly valued his love, which was always illuminated by faith and devotion to Providence. Mr. Zattis was good and wise, loving and firm. He hurriedly went to everyone, called everyone by name, addressing everyone with the right and appropriate word. He did not stop in the face of difficulties, always seeking only to serve Christ in the most suffering and needy brothers. After serving others all his life, he ended his earthly journey in 1951. on March 15.

One of his acquaintances remembers: "Artemis Zattis was a purely spiritual man. So spiritual that he raised even material things to heaven. Zattis was a bright missionary among emigrants, youth and the poor; he embodied work and joy, fidelity to the spirit of Father Bosco." Without a doubt, he is an example to all, monks and laymen, of how one can dedicate even the most humble work to union with God and to the service of the most needy brothers.
"If you want God to be merciful to you, be merciful to the poor. Then you will be able to say, 'I am doing what I can.' If you do what is in your power, you can rest easy. If you have no wealth, give what you can. Is there a shortage of sick people that you could visit, nurse, be close to? Aren't there abandoned youth who need Christian training? Aren't there brothers who need to be corrected, helped, listened to?" (Fr. J. Boskas).
